Sold? not EYE

A Corporation,

essentially, is a pile of money to which a number of persons
have SOLD their moral allegiance.”

~ Wendell Berry

Perhaps the most extraordinary
Characteristic of current America is the attempt to reduce life to buying and selling.
Life is not love unless love is sex and bought and sold.
Life is not knowledge save knowledge of technique, of science for destruction.
Life is not beauty except beauty for sale.
Life is not Art unless its price is high and it is sold for profit.
All life is production for profit, and for what is profit but for buying and selling again ?”

Joe Cocker

John Robert "Joe" Cocker born 20 May 1944 and died of lung cancer today, on December 22nd. 2014.
He was an English rock and blues singer, who came to popularity in the 1960s, and was known for his gritty voice, his spasmodic body movement in performance and his cover versions of popular songs, particularly those of the BeatlesHis cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" reached number one in the UK in 1968, and he performed the song live at Woodstock in 1969. His version also became the theme song for the TV series The Wonder Years. His 1975 hit single, "You Are So Beautiful", reached number five in the US. Cocker is the recipient of several awards, including a 1983 Grammy Award for his US number one "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Jennifer Warnes. In 1993 he was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male, in 2007 was awarded a bronze Sheffield Legends plaque in his hometown, and in 2008 he received an OBE at Buckingham Palace for services to music.

Personal life
In 1963, Cocker began dating Eileen Webster, also a resident of Sheffield. The couple dated intermittently for the next 13 years, separating permanently in 1976. In 1978, Cocker moved onto a ranch owned by Jane Fonda in Santa Barbara, California. Pam Baker, a local summer camp director and fan of Cocker's music, persuaded the actress to let the house to Cocker. Baker began dating Cocker and they eventually married on 11 October 1987.[37] The couple resided on the Mad Dog Ranch in Crawford, Colorado.
Cocker was not related to fellow Sheffield-born musician Jarvis Cocker, despite a rumour to this effect (particularly in Australia, where Jarvis' father, radio DJ Mac Cocker, allowed listeners to believe he was Joe Cocker's brother)
Cocker died of lung cancer on the 22nd of December 2014 in Crawford California.[40][41] The two living Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, were among those who paid tribute to the singer, while his agent, Barrie Marshall, stated he was "without doubt the greatest rock/soul singer ever to come out of Britain.

I loved Melanie back when... unique, inspirational & honest & her song Johnny Boy my friend was intense... "I Really Loved Harold" "I don't eat Animals" are some of my favourite tunes I'm not sure which album I had, it's in Boston, I'm in Southern England it remains to be seen, I know the cover was a deep tone.
Back tracking back to Melanie & the days of the early 70's with these videos from folks at Youtube, thanks for posting.

"Melanie Anne Safka-Schekeryk (born February 3, 1947) is an American singer-songwriter.[1] Known professionally as Melanie, she is best known for her hits "Brand New Key", "Ruby Tuesday", "What Have They Done To My Song Ma", and her song about performing at the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival, "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)"

"Melanie was born and raised in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York City, New York. Her father, Fred, was of a Russian-Ukrainian ethnic background and her jazz singer mother, Polly, was of Italian heritage.[4][5] Melanie made her first public singing appearance at age four on the radio show Live Like A Millionaire, performing the song "Gimme a Little Kiss". She attended Red Bank High School in Red Bank, New Jersey, graduating in 1966. After school, her parents insisted that she go to college, so she studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York,[6] where she began singing in the folk clubs of Greenwich Village and signed her first recording contract."

Phil Everly...

Rest in peace Phil Everly

Don & Phil (bottom) promotional photo in 1958.  Photo source

On January 3, 2014, Phil Everly, a lifelong smoker died in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank at the age of 74.

The cause of his death was complications attributed to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease a combination of emphysema and bronchitis.

The Everly BrothersIsaac Donald "DonEverly (born February 1, 1937) and Phillip "PhilEverly (January 19, 1939 – January 3, 2014)—were American country-influenced rock and roll singers, known for steel-string guitar playing and close harmony singing. The duo was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.......

The brothers toured extensively with Buddy Holly during 1957 and 1958.
According to Holly biographer Philip Norman, they were responsible for the change in style for Holly and The Crickets from Levi's and T-shirts to the Everlys' sharp Ivy League suits.
Don claimed Holly to be a generous songwriter who wrote the song "Wishing" for them, while Phil later stated: "We were all from the South. We'd started in country music."[8]
Phil Everly was one of Buddy Holly's pallbearers at his funeral in February 1959, although Don did not attend. He later said, "I couldn't go to the funeral. I couldn't go anywhere. I just took to my bed.

as an aside or is it?

Where would so many of us be without the freedom to slowly kill ourselves with cigarettes while you collect your blood money,
Dear manufactures, feds, state and you want to ban e-cigs?
Can anyone see ...

Santa Baby!

Santa Baby! "Original Song 1953" Eartha Kitt thank you to EveryDays AHoliday
on youtube for the video.

"Santa Baby" is a 1953 Christmas song written by Joan Javits (the niece of Senator Jacob K. Javits) and Philip Springer. The song is a tongue-in-cheek look at a Christmas list sung by a woman who wants extravagant gifts such as sables, yachts, and decorations from Tiffany's. It is one of the few hit Christmas songs written by a Woman.

i♥♪

"Santa Baby" was originally recorded by Eartha Kitt with Henri René and his orchestra in New York City, in July, 1953. It was released by RCA Victor Records as catalog number 20-5502 (in the USA), and by EMI on the His Master's Voice label as catalog number B 10728. The song was a huge hit for Kitt, and she later said that it was one of her favorite songs to record; she reprised it in the 1954 film New Faces.
Kitt also reprised the original song in a 1963 re-recording for Kapp Records, with a more uptempo arrangement (Madonna's popular rendition for the 1987 charity album A Very Special Christmas was based on this latter version). In 1954, Kitt recorded a new version of the song with new lyrics titled "This Year's Santa Baby", to no commercial success. Writers listed did not change.
The song is heard in the films Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Elf (2003), and Boynton Beach Club (2005).

O Holy Night

The beautiful "O Holy Night" by Libera Official

I  lost my religion a decade ago but not my love of Christmas, my spirituality is infact intact .
You dear reader may ask what that means?
Answer, I don't know can't assume to  know the unknowable and anything is possible.

Many religious people like to lump Agnostics (άγνωστος- unknown)
with Atheists.
Other then the vast differences between them that's a cope out a mere human desire to label and exclude people from the "good god fearing people"
I'm good to others including animals and the earth because it's the right thing to be do,
Not out of  fear or reward.
Lets talk personal responsibility in the here and NOW.

So if you want label & box me use the quoted text below
almost describes how I am but ah yes with these exceptions;
The higher power does not exist in the same long robe bearded manner of which my inherited religion touts.. Nor do I believe in Heaven or hell as do all Christian denominations, nor is this power male
...
still.....

love Christmas adore it and the feeling that comes from within and without, music the lights
cold weather and snow, the holiday cooking & traditions did I mention music always
music this song and many others.
It's not about presents and shopping is it any wonder people get depressed, all that and  rushing to be with family too like it or coal lump it.
still..
...
I love mingling & milling along stopping for coffee sitting outside at a little cafe
in the cold air & preferably snow.. Christmas is birth, music ❣

No matter what you think believe I'm
Wishing you & yours a happy healthy and  love filled
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays for those
of you that don't do Christmas.

Agnostic

Word History:
An agnostic does not deny the existence of God and heaven but holds that one cannot know for certain whether or not they exist. The term agnostic was fittingly coined by the 19th-century British scientist Thomas H. Huxley, who believed that only material phenomena were objects of exact knowledge. He made up the word from the prefix a-, meaning "without, not," as in amoral, and the noun Gnostic. Gnostic is related to the Greek word gnsis,"knowledge," which was used by early Christian writers to mean "higher, esoteric knowledge of spiritual things"; hence, Gnostic referred to those with such knowledge. In coining the term agnostic, Huxley was considering as "Gnostics" a group of his fellow intellectuals"ists," as he called themwho had eagerly embraced various doctrines or theories that explained the world to their satisfaction.
Because he was a "man without a rag of a label to cover himself with," Huxley coined the term agnostic for himself, its first published use being in 1870.

The Beatles - Anna

The Beatles - Anna (Go To Him)

"Anna (Go To Him)"

Anna"Anna (Go To Him)"
Anna
You come and ask me, girl
To set you free, girl
You say he loves you more than me
So I will set you free
Go with him
Go with him

Anna
Girl, before you go now
I want you to know, now
That I still love you so
But if he loves you more
Go with him

All of my life
I've been searching for a girl
To love me like I love you
Oh, now, but every girl I've ever had
Breaks my heart and leaves my sad
What am I, what am I supposed to do

Anna
Just one more thing, girl
You give back your ring to me, and I will set you free
Go with him

Anna
Just one more thing, girl
You give back your ring to me, and I will set you free
Go with him

Wise enough.

Edit Nov 27th - they Monsanto & the GMA won again, sadly.

Hey guys,

Washington State votes on 522 tomorrow Our $5.22 cents can make the difference between the knowledge in what's in our food, ( the rest of the world knows) or blind faith in Monsanto, Dow, Dupont & Clorox..

Tell the (GMA) Grocery Manufactures Association and their Members ( some listed above) We want labels on genetically modified food.
Lets not allow Washington State 522 to be defeated the same way California's Proposition 37 was.

You don't have to add an employer if your donation is under 25.00, if you get an error like I did add "under 25.00" in each field except the zip code add zip there.

Have a great start to week and thanks for reading this.
I hope we're wise enough.

If you think we the People of the USA deserve to know as does the EU and others, which foods are genetically modified via labels

Then help the reach our goal Yes On 522
All we ask for are labels.

XO

This was shared by Lamb on my facebook page today, I love them this

Lou Reed, goodbye & thank you.

Lewis Allan "Lou" Reed (March 2, 1942 – October 27, 2013) was an American rock musician and songwriter.
After being guitarist, vocalist, principal songwriter of The Velvet Underground, his solo career spanned several decades.
The Velvet Underground were a commercial failure in the late 1960s, but the group has gained a considerable cult following in the years since its demise and has gone on to become one of the most widely cited and influential bands of the era hence Brian Eno's famous quote that while the Velvet Underground's debut album only sold 30,000 copies, "everyone who bought one of those 30,000 copies started a band.

Reed was born at Beth El Hospital (now Brookdale) in Brooklyn and grew up in Freeport, Long Island.
Contrary to some sources, his birth name was Lewis Allan Reed, not Louis Firbanks, a name that was coined as a joke by Lester Bangs in Creem magazine. Reed is the son of Toby (née Futterman) and Sidney Joseph Reed, an accountant.
His family was Jewish, and although he said that he was Jewish, he added,
"My God is rock’n’roll. It’s an obscure power that can change your life.
The most important part of my religion is to play guitar."

Reed as a high school senior, 1959
Having learned to play the guitar from the radio, he developed an early interest in rock and roll and rhythm and blues, and during high school played in several bands. His first recording was as a member of a doo wop-style group called The Jades. In 1956, Reed, who was bisexual, received electroconvulsive therapy as a teenager, which was intended to cure his bisexuality; he wrote about the experience in his 1974 song, "Kill Your Sons".

In an interview, Reed said of the experience:

"They put the thing down your throat so you don't swallow your tongue, and they put electrodes on your head. That's what was recommended in Rockland State Hospital to discourage homosexual feelings. The effect is that you lose your memory and become a vegetable. You can't read a book because you get to page 17 and have to go right back to page one again."
—Lou Reed quoted in Please Kill Me (1996)
